Katie Shirley serves as the School of Law's Dean of Students. In this role, she is responsible for leading the Student Affairs team (OSA). She serves as a resource from whom individual law students may seek counsel on personal and academic matters. She supports the Law School's ten student run academic journals, 100+ student groups, and the Student Bar Association. She also oversees OSA's student-facing programming, including major events such as JD Orientation and the School of Law's Convocation ceremonies. She first joined the School of Law in 2023 as the Director of Student Affairs. Prior to joining NYU Law, she served as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator and Discrimination and Harassment Resource Coordinator for Yale College. Katie brings years of experience across higher education, including roles in academic integrity, student conduct, student activities, student support. She holds both an MEd in Student Personnel in Higher Education and a JD with a certificate in Social Justice Advocacy.

Michelle serves as the Assistant Director for Student Affairs at NYU School of Law, where she oversees the planning and execution of the Law School’s signature annual events, including 1L Orientation, Barrister’s Ball, and Convocation. Prior to joining NYU Law, she worked in legal recruiting and event planning, supporting lateral and summer associate programs at several New York law firms. Michelle earned her BFA in Theater from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she completed a dual major in Politics.

Nicholas serves as program administrator at NYU School of Law’s Office of Student Affairs. In this role, he manages the Prominence Fund, supports the operations of student organizations and journals, and participates in the planning of events and programming. Prior to joining the Law School in September 2022, he worked for the Southern Nevada Health District and with JPMorgan Chase. Nicholas completed his Bachelor’s of Arts from Rutgers University’s School of Arts and Sciences, having studied Anthropology and English.
Ethan Duffy

Ethan Duffy serves as the Financial Administrative Assistant for the Office of Student Affairs for NYU School of Law. Their responsibilities include serving as an advisor of the 110 student groups on campus, supporting their operations and planning, serving as the Journals Administrative contact, and managing the various budgets of the Office of Student Affairs. Ethan received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology as well as French from New York University’s College of Arts and Sciences. Before joining School of Law Office of Student Affairs, Ethan served as an operations manager in New York retail as well as a Lead Office Assistant and Residential Assistant in New York University’s Residential Life and Housing Services program.
