Entering Student Cancellation Request

To cancel a 2019-20 academic year housing application or assignment, entering students must log into the NYU Housing Portal.

Important to remember: 

  • No cancellation will be permitted once you have checked in, and you will be responsible for the full License period.
  • To be without penalty, notice of cancellation must be submitted to the Department of Residence Services (2) weeks from the date of your assignment notification.
  • If you cancel after 2 weeks from the date of your assignment notification and prior to 5:00 p.m. (EST) August 1, 2019, you will be assessed a $1,500 late cancellation fee.
  • If assigned after July 27, 2019, notice of cancellation must be submitted to the Department of Residence Services (2) business days from the date of your assignment notification to be without penalty. 
  • If you cancel after 5:00 p.m. (EST) August 1, 2019, you will be responsible for the full license period.
  • Cancellation fees will be added to your NYU Bursar account, and your account will be placed in arrears until the charge is paid.
  • All cancellations occurring after the cancellation deadlines will be subject to the provisions indicated in your initial assignment letter.

Returning Student Cancellation Request

To cancel a 2019-20 academic year housing application or assignment, returning students must log into the NYU Housing Portal.

Important to remember: 

  • No cancellation will be permitted once you have checked in, and you will be responsible for the full License period.
  • To be without penalty, notice of cancellation must be submitted to the Department of Residence Services by 5:00 p.m. (EST) March 15, 2019, or the date indicated in your initial assignment letter.
  • If you cancel after 5:00 p.m. (EST) March 15, 2019 and prior to 5:00 p.m. (EST) May 15, 2019, you will be assessed a $1,500 late cancellation fee.
  • If you cancel after May 15, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. (EST), you will be responsible for the full license period.
  • Cancellation fees will be added to your NYU Bursar account, and your account will be placed in arrears until the charge is paid.
  • All cancellations occurring after the cancellation deadlines will be subject to the provisions indicated in your initial assignment letter.

Spring 2020 Housing Cancellation Request

To cancel a spring 2020 housing application or assignment, spring 2020 graduates and returning students must cancel via the NYU Housing Portal (subject to approval). 

Important to remember: 

  • To be without penalty, notice of cancellation must be submitted online within 2 weeks from the date of your assignment notification.
  • If you cancel after 2 weeks from the date of your assignment notification, you will be responsible for the full license period.

​Summer Cancellation Request Form

To cancel a summer 2019 housing application or assignment, summer 2019 graduates and returning students must cancel via the NYU Housing Portal (subject to approval). 

Important to remember: 

  • The cancellation deadline for Spring 2019 graduates and returning students with a confirmed Summer 2019 housing assignment is March 15, 2019.
  • If you are assigned after March 15, you must cancel assignment via the NYU Housing Portal within (2) business days from the initial date of the assignment notification. If you cancel after (2) two business days from the initial date of the assignment notification, you will be responsible for the entire license period.
