Dissertation Title: A Listening Guide Analysis of the Right of Publicity

Doctoral Supervisor: Professor Barton Beebe

Biography: Xanthia is a lawyer and academic researcher interested in intellectual property and its relationship with the humans, animals, and machines that create and contribute to it. 

Xanthia completed her LL.M. at NYU in 2023, where she took a particular interest in Professor Carol Gilligan’s Listening Guide method. Since graduating, she has co-taught the method with Prof. Gilligan and Dr. Jacqueline Cruz and contributed to research projects with NYU’s Radical Listening Project. She is writing a book designed to bring the Listening Guide to a popular audience. 

Prior to starting her JSD, Xanthia worked in New York as an attorney in the music industry, advising a variety of independent record labels. She originally trained as an intellectual property attorney in the London and New York offices of a large international firm.
