2026 Grunin Prize for Sustained Commitment Winner
Jonathan Ng, Co-Managing Partner, Mission Driven Counsel LLP
Jonathan Ng is Co-Managing Partner of Mission Driven Counsel LLP, a law firm specializing in global development. MDC was founded by former senior lawyers from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to carry on the work of foreign assistance. He advises social enterprises, NGOs, and government entities on complex cross-border legal, governance, and funding issues, with a focus on donor compliance, outcomes-based funding, and innovative finance structures, particularly involving concessional grant capital.
Previously, Jonathan spent more than nine years at USAID in Washington, D.C. and most recently, as a Foreign Service Officer in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Earlier in his career, he was a project finance attorney at White & Case in New York and the first Global Legal Director at Ashoka: Innovators for the Public. While at Ashoka, he worked closely with social entrepreneurs and developed the idea for what later became the Grunin Center for Law and Social Entrepreneurship at NYU Law. He also co-developed and taught the inaugural course on social enterprise and the law at Georgetown University Law Center.
