Legal Scholarship
The Center is working to advance the fields of social entrepreneurship and impact investing through legal scholarship. To this end, the Center is engaging in the following activities:
- The Grunin Center for Law and Social Entrepreneurship and the NYU Journal of Law & Business will be hosting its second 2025 Symposium on Legal Issues in Social Entrepreneurship, Impact Investing, and Sustainable Development at NYU School of Law on October 7, 2025. The objective of this symposium is to convene legal scholars in a collegial and supportive environment to share and comment on field advancing works in progress. - Professors Deborah Burand and Anne M. Tucker (University of Georgia School of Law) conducted a literature review of the legal scholarship that has taken place from 2007-17 in the fields of social entrepreneurship and impact investing. - Professors Deborah Burand and Anne M. Tucker published a literature review in August 2025 that builds on their earlier research into legal scholarship in the fields of social entrepreneurship and impact investing. This literature review surveys 177 articles published in US law reviews and journals between 2018–23 that contribute to the fields of social enterprise, social finance, and impact investing.
