High School Internship, Summer 2024

The Birnbaum Women’s Leadership Center (BWLC) at NYU School of Law is accepting applications for summer internships from rising high school juniors and seniors. Under the direction of Faculty Director Melissa Murray and Executive Director Jennifer Weiss-Wolf, the BWLC is focused on ensuring gender equity in public life and the law.

The internship will run for the month of July with a time commitment of approximately 10-15 hours per week (some flexibility is permitted). The role is remote with opportunities to join occasional on-campus meetings and events.

Projects will include:

  • Researching a gender equity/justice issue and drafting a 700-word op-ed (with an eye toward publication in Ms. Magazine);
  • Working with BWLC staff to manage the Center’s web site and social media accounts. This will involve identifying articles to share, creating graphics and captions, and boosting followers on key accounts (X, Instagram, LinkedIn);
  • Researching and proposing events that the BWLC might host in the 2024-25 academic year. These could include a book talk, as well as proposals for panel discussions. You will have the opportunity to “pitch” these events to the BWLC leadership team; and
  • Providing administrative and editing support for the BWLC staff.
