The Birnbaum Women’s Leadership Center’s Fellows Program is a selective co-curricular program and community that provides training and professional development in honing key leadership skills. JD students apply and are selected early in their first year at NYU Law; the application is open to all 1Ls. Participation kicks off with the Sara Moss Women’s Leadership Intensive, a week-long intensive that takes place during winter break, named in recognition of Sara Moss ’74, a BWLC founding supporter.

The BWLC also administers the Abby Lyn Gillette Fellowship, which provides a generous stipend to a rising 2L or 3L student whose summer internship focuses on women’s rights. This award was established in honor of the late Abby Lyn Gillette, former assistant dean of academic affairs at NYU School of Law from 2000 to 2008, by her husband, Professor Clayton Gillette, and their son Alex, to commemorate her commitment to advancing women’s leadership in the legal profession.
