Judicial Clerkships

Many Furmans find clerking to be a valuable experience. The Furman Program has an excellent track record of placing alumni in clerkships on the Supreme Court, and virtually all Furmans who seek one or more clerkships get them, usually with outstanding judges.  

  • 14 Furmans have been hired as Supreme Court clerks
  • 69 Furmans have been hired as circuit court clerks around the country 
  • 22 Furmans have also completed clerkships in district courts

Law Practice

Although academia is the ultimate goal for the program, many Furmans find that a few years in practice can help broaden their legal experience and viewpoint.

Furmans have also served in a variety of non-profit public-interest jobs, including as Skadden Fellows and Equal Justice Works Fellows.
