The Office of Alumni Relations warmly welcomes alumni to visit campus to attend events, use the Law Library, or simply “look around.” It is important to note that, as with any New York City building, there are standard procedures and requirements for entering Vanderbilt or Furman Halls.
Attending an Event: Alumni attending an event at the Law School should be prepared to show photo identification to the guard at the entrance of each building. Alumni will then be directed to the event location, where they may have to formally register for the event.
Law Library: Alumni wishing to use the Law Library are required to make an annual contribution to the Annual Fund of $250. Alumni who graduated two years ago may become members for $150. Alumni who graduated one year ago may become members for $75. Alumni who graduated within the current year are invited to enjoy a complimentary membership for their first year out of law school. A library card will be mailed once the contribution is received. Please note that a Law Library card is needed for admittance and NYU Bobst Library cards will not be accepted.
Facilities Walk Through: Alumni wishing to take a tour of any Law School building must obtain a temporary visitors pass after presenting photo identification to the guard posted at the entrances of Furman and Vanderbilt Halls. Alumni are welcome to visit common areas of the Law School, excluding classrooms, offices, and the Law Library unless they have a library card.
Alumni who would like to offer their support of a Law School applicant can send a letter of reference to:
22 Washington Square North
New York, NY 10011
While all of our candidates receive equal consideration, letters of support from Law School alumni will be placed in the prospective student’s academic file.
The NYU Professional Bookstore has recently created an alumni authors section and encourages alumni who have written books to submit them for consideration. Once submitted, the Bookstore will review books to ensure they are reasonably priced and appropriate for a retail outlet. Once books have passed the review, they will be shelved. Please send your name and the title of your book to email@example.com.
