Message from Leadership

A Message from the Law Alumni Association President

Ayana Free

Welcome to the NYU Law Alumni Association (LAA)! We are proud alumni of an institution that marries scholarship, innovation, and public service. The Board of Directors of this association works tirelessly to ensure we, as alumni, are upholding these values.

LAA has long endeavored to represent our graduates’ interests in Law School governance and programming. We sponsor a variety of events and opportunities throughout the year just for you: lectures with faculty members, opportunities to earn CLE credits, networking events for established practitioners and recent graduates alike, volunteer events, and more.

I know how much I have benefitted from the gracious and active alumni who preceded my time at our beloved institution. I hope you will get involved and help us pick up their mantle to pay it forward for incoming generations of eager legal minds.

On behalf of the LAA Board of Directors, we look forward to working alongside you to keep NYU Law the greatest law school it can be.

With appreciation,

A Message from the Law Alumni of Color Association President

Judy Bartlett

Welcome to the NYU Law Alumni of Color Association (LACA)!

It is with heartfelt pride and deep commitment that I welcome you to the online home of LACA. Since our founding in 1978, LACA has proudly served as a unifying force for NYU Law’s alumni of color—a vibrant and diverse community bound by shared purpose and a passion for justice, leadership, and equity.

LACA exists because of you: your experiences, your voices, and your vision. Whether you’ve just graduated or are reconnecting after decades of impact, there is a place for you here. We encourage you to engage with us by attending events, mentoring students, celebrating our shared achievements, and helping shape the future of our community.

Now more than ever, your involvement matters. By standing together and supporting one another, we honor those who came before us while uplifting the leaders of tomorrow. Join us in continuing the powerful legacy of excellence, resilience, and transformation that defines LACA.

On behalf of the LACA Board of Directors and our Advisory Committee, I warmly welcome you. Let’s celebrate our past, empower our present, and boldly build a future we can all be proud of.
