“Cheat Code to Life': Jailhouse lawyers help incarcerated people — and themselves, too,” NPR
NPR interviewed JLI Founder, Jhody Polk, Managing Attorney, Tyler Walton, and former inside JLI member Brandon Tieuel on the historic contribution of jailhouse lawyers, the ongoing impact of jailhouse lawyering, and ongoing efforts at the JLI to invest in and uplift jailhouse lawyers as essential members of the legal ecosystem.
JLI’s Founder, Jhody Polk, was featured in Ms. Magazine, where she spoke about finding a legal identity during her time as a law clerk at Gadsden Correctional Facility and how this experience led to the founding of the Legal Empowerment and Advocacy Hub and the Jailhouse Lawyers Initiative.
