Birnbaum Women's Leadership Center

For Students

The Birnbaum Women’s Leadership Center works to advance women’s-focused leadership at NYU Law. Our Women’s Leadership Fellows Program (WLFP) is a selective co-curricular program and community that provides training and professional development in honing key leadership skills. Fellows apply and are selected early in their 1L year at NYU Law. Participation kicks off with the Sara Moss Women’s Leadership Training Program, a week-long intensive that takes place during winter break, named in recognition of Sara Moss ’74, a BWLC founding supporter. Read our FAQs, and meet our current and alumnae cohorts of Fellows.

The BWLC also administers the Abby Lyn Gillette Fellowship, which provides a generous stipend to a rising 2L or 3L student spending their summer focused on advancing women’s rights. This award was established in honor of the late Abby Lyn Gillette, former assistant dean of academic affairs at NYU School of Law from 2000 to 2008, by her husband, Professor Clayton Gillette, and their son Alex, to commemorate her commitment to advancing women’s leadership in the legal profession.
