Health Law & Policy Society: Book Launch Event – Salt in My Soul: An Unfinished Life, March 2019

  • The Health Law and Policy Society at NYU School of Law invites you to attend the launch of Salt in My Soul: An Unfinished Life, a posthumous memoir by Mallory Smith. This event will be held on March 12, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. in Classroom 204, Vanderbilt Hall.

    Please join us to learn about Mallory's incredible life, her writings, and her lasting impact on healthcare and law. Mallory's parents, Diane and Mark Smith, will address the ethical and humanistic dimensions of clinical trials as well as the need for balance with pain management during the opioid crisis. Mark, a graduate of Harvard Law School, will also speak to the legal issues that have been raised by Mallory's story.

An Evening Talk with William Bernstein, Chair of Manatt Health, October 2018

  • Bill Bernstein is a partner, chair of Manatt Health and a member of the firm’s Management Committee. Bill also was recently named the firm’s chairman of the board. His practice concentrates on providing strategic, business and legal advice to clients in the healthcare industry, including provider organizations, managed care companies, emerging companies and financial institutions. He has led engagements to create new business models for the organization and payment of health services, developed plans for the broad use of health information technology to support new care delivery systems and counseled numerous states on implementation issues resulting from health reform. He has also assisted clients in raising billions of dollars of public-sector financing, ranging from innovative public-private ambulatory initiatives to cutting-edge funding for hospitals.

    Bill began his healthcare career working for the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare.
