Daria Sartori

Dr. Daria Sartori is a practising human rights lawyer, registered with both the Italian and French Bars. She is specialized in actions before the European Court of Human Rights, with a specific focus on the protection of people on the move and asylum seekers. 

Daria holds a PhD and a Doctor Europaeus in Comparative and European Legal Studies from the University of Trento (Italy), and she was a Michigan Grotius Research Scholar at the University of Michigan Law School. She previously worked as a case-processing lawyer at the Registry of the European Court of Human Rights. Currently, Daria is the Co-Founder of Pro Iura, a civil society organization dedicated to advancing pro bono human rights litigation. She also serves as the Supervising Lawyer for the award-winning Rule 39 Pro Bono Initiative, a project that supports the effective use of urgent and non-urgent applications to the European Court of Human Rights on behalf of vulnerable migrants.

In addition to her role at NYU Law in Paris, Daria teaches courses on migration and human rights at Sciences Po Toulouse and a human rights litigation course at the Université Catholique de Lille. She frequently serves as a consultant on human rights protection for international organizations, including the UNHCR and the Council of Europe.
 

Ajla Demir

Ajla Demir is the NYU Law in Paris Program Assistant. Originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ajla moved to Paris to pursue her Master’s degree in Economics and Psychology at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and Université Paris Cité. Having previous experience in peer mentoring and program organization, with a dedication to seamless execution of academic programs, Ajla has been supporting NYU Laws in Paris since January 2024.
