Fall 2015 Finals: Laptop Readiness Instructions

This email was sent on the morning of Wednesday, November 18th:

Dear Students,

Now is the time to ready your computer for your upcoming exams.  Students in the ELLM and MSL programs have the option to examine remotely or to examine on-campus.  Please follow the instructions below based on your choice for this exam period.

Off-Campus

Our test taking solution is a combination of the on-campus test taking software, Exam4, and a live online proctoring service, ProctorU.  In order to take a final exam off-campus, every student must complete each of the following steps:

  • Go to the Online Exams page now to learn about the online test taking process.
  • Confirm that your computer meets ProctorU’s technical requirements
  • Install Exam4 and ExamDocViewer, and take a Practice Exam as outlined in the Online Exams page.
  • Register with ProctorU and reserve your exam timeslot
    • The estimated time of connecting with a proctor at the time of your exam is 15 minutes. The proctor will start the exam clock after you have connected and started Exam4 and ExamDocViewer.
  • Watch the How Online Proctoring Works video

You must complete these steps prior to your examination day.

On-Campus

In order to be Compliant for this final exam period, every student must complete each of the following steps:

  • Log in to ExamReporter, make note of your current 4-digit Exam ID number.
  • Download and install the current version of Exam4.  If you’ve downloaded Exam4 for a prior test period, you still must re-download and install Exam4.
  • Open Exam4, take and submit a Practice
  • Once the Practice Exam is submitted, check your Compliance status in ExamReporter.

Visit the Exam4 page for instructions on installing the Exam4 software, taking a Practice Exam, a short How-To video, FAQ, and a Features page.

If any of your exams require use of multiple choice or word counts, please explore the FAQ and Features pages.

You must submit a Practice Exam for this final testing period even if you’ve already done so for midterms or a previous semester.

If you are having any problems related to the above, or if you have any other questions, please contact Helpdesk prior to the deadline for assistance.

Good luck with your exams!
