NYU Law celebrates Reunion 2019

On April 12-14, NYU Law Reunion 2019 welcomed graduates of 11 classes from 1964 to 2014 and Golden Circle alumni. The weekend celebrations included alumni association receptions, class dinners, and an all-reunion dance, concluding with walking tours and a family brunch.

Alumni had the chance to hear commentary and analysis on current legal and political developments from NYU Law scholars Norman Dorsen Professor of Civil Liberties Burt Neuborne; Professor Melissa Murray, co-faculty director of the Birnbaum Women’s Leadership Network; Professor of Tax Law Steven Dean, faculty director of the Graduate Tax Program; and Elihu Root Professor of Law Stephen Gillers ’68.

In addition, John Sexton, NYU president emeritus, NYU Law dean emeritus, and Benjamin F. Butler Professor of Law, discussed his new book, Standing for Reason: The University in a Dogmatic Age, with Dean Trevor Morrison at a luncheon event on Saturday, April 13.

The Law Alumni Association recognized four alumni for their professional achievements:

David Cruz ’94, Newton Professor of Law at USC Gould School of Law, received the Legal Teaching Award.

Lauren Burke ’09, a social entrepreneur and immigration attorney, received the Recent Graduate Award.

US Representative Scott Peters ’84 received the Public Service Award.

Sara Moss ’74, executive vice president and general counsel of The Estée Lauder Companies, received the Alumni Achievement Award.
