Professor David Kamin to serve in Biden White House

Professor of Law David Kamin ’09 will take a public service leave to serve in the White House. President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris today announced Kamin’s appointment as deputy director of the National Economic Council in the White House.

In his scholarship, Kamin has focused on budget and tax policy, and he has written on areas including taxation of capital, tax planning, tax reform options, retirement security, and budget process. Prior to joining the Law School faculty, Kamin worked in President Barack Obama's administration from 2009 to 2012. There, he served as special assistant to the president for economic policy, working to coordinate tax and budget policy. Prior to that, he was a special assistant, and later adviser, to the director of the Office of Management and Budget.

Kamin has also worked at the Committee for Economic Development and the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.
