NYU Law students celebrate their graduation at NYU Commencement and Law School Convocation ceremonies

NYU's 184th Commencement Exercises and NYU Law's Convocation ceremonies this year both featured prominent speakers to address the Class of 2016.

At Commencement on May 18, Darren Walker, president of the Ford Foundation, addressed University-wide graduates at Yankee Stadium. Walker received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree, as did Margaret Hilary Marshall, former chief justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.

On May 19, NYU Law held a JD ceremony and a ceremony for LLM and JSD candidates at the Beacon Theatre. Vanita Gupta '01, head of the US Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division, addressed this year's JD class, while Francis Daniels LLM '86, '87, director of Africa Opportunity Partners, spoke to the graduating LLM and JSD students.

Georgia Stasinopoulos '16 delivered an address to her fellow JD classmates, and Evangelia Andronikou LLM '16 was the student speaker at the LLM and JSD ceremony.
