The Center for Human Rights and Global Justice invites you to join Wolfgang Kaleck, Secretary-General of the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR), in conversation with Philip Alston, Professor of Law at NYU Law and Faculty Co-Director of the Center.

The event will explore themes from Kaleck’s latest book,The Power of Law: Reconciling Legality and International Justice.

About the speaker

Wolfgang Kaleck founded the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR) in Berlin in 2007 and is now its Secretary-General. The Center pursues strategic human rights litigation, using universal jurisdiction and other international and national legal mechanisms to pursue accountability for torture, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. It brought the first criminal trial worldwide addressing state torture in Syria; has an important track record pursuing accountability related to the US ‘war on terror;’ has challenged major European com panies for human rights abuses, and worked extensively on migration and border justice in Europe.
