In New York State, when a worker claims unemployment, their former employer can contest their eligibility, which leads to a hearing before an administrative law judge where the worker and the employer can each present arguments and evidence. The Unemployment Action Center trains and organizes law students to represent workers at these hearings.
This training will instruct new advocates on how to take on new cases, meet with claimants, and represent claimants at administrative hearings.
Trainings are required for advocates to take on new cases.
