The Two Robes of Judge Bianco (CA2)

Please join NYU FedSoc for a special event featuring Judge Bianco of the Second Circuit. Judge Bianco will recount his career as a terrorism prosecutor, district judge, and now circuit judge, and also becoming a deacon of the Catholic Church, exploring how his faith has guided him in his roles both as a lawyer and judge and as a deacon.

Prior to his appointment as a United States Circuit Judge in 2019, Judge Bianco served as a United States District Court Judge in the Eastern District of New York from 2006 to 2019. Judge Bianco obtained his B.A., magna cum laude, at Georgetown University in 1988 and received his law degree in 1991 from Columbia Law School, where he was a Kent Scholar and a member of the Law Review. From 1992-1993, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable Peter K. Leisure, United States District Judge for the Southern District of New York. From 1994-2003, Judge Bianco served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York, where he became Deputy Chief and then Chief of the Organized Crime and Terrorism Unit. In 2004, Judge Bianco was appointed as a Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Division in Washington, D.C., where he supervised the Counterterrorism Section, the Fraud Section, the Appellate Section, and the Capital Case Unit. Judge Bianco has taught courses at Fordham Law School, Hofstra Law School, and Touro Law Center. He currently teaches at St. John's University School of Law.
