On Thursday, November 17th, NSLS and the Reiss Center on Law and Security will co-host this year’s second “A Road Less Traveled” lunch event, featuring Arsalan Suleman. The series features career talks with national security law and policy practitioners in candid conversations about their paths after law school. Featured speakers hail from a diverse range of backgrounds—including government, advocacy, private sector, and/or scholarly work—and address both the details of their work as well as a broader view of their career trajectories.
Suleman is a counsel in Foley Hoag’s International Litigation & Arbitration Practice. Previously, he was the former U.S. Department of State Acting Special Envoy to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the world’s second largest international organization after the United Nations. He engaged with the OIC and its member states on bilateral and multilateral foreign policy issues, including via remarks before and participation in Heads-of-State Summits and Ministerial Level Meetings. Prior to that he served as Counselor for Multilateral Affairs in the State Department’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, where he drafted several UN resolutions, delivered remarks in various UN forums, and engaged with senior UN officials and special procedures mandate holders.
The event will take place in Furman Hall Room 318 on Thursday, November 17, from 12pm-1pm. Lunch will be served.
