Lunch Panel: Artists as Attorneys

  • Monday, March 30, 2026
  • 1:15–2:15 p.m.
    1. Furman Hall, Classroom 334

This event is not open to the public.

We’re putting creativity on the stand. Join the Art Law Society at NYU Law for a lunch panel featuring distinguished attorneys who are also painters, poets, and creatives. From the courtroom to the studio, our panelists will discuss the intersection of logic and creativity, the discipline required to maintain creative practices alongside a rigorous legal career, and how different artistic practices inform their advocacy.

We are thrilled to be joined by: Alfred Steiner, an artist, curator, and attorney who has advised clients for over 25 years on matters related to technology and new media, Kristen Surya, the Senior Director of Business & Legal Affairs at Atlantic Records, Darren W. Johnson, a litigator at Paul Weiss who concentrates on IP, false advertising, and defamation, and Caroline Radell, a litigator at Irell & Manella who specializes in IP.
