Please join the Art Law Society at NYU Law for a conversation about the physical spaces that underpin NYC's artist communities, the laws that have historically protected them (e.g., the Loft Law of 1982 and the Artist-in-Residence Law of 1971), and how this unique regulatory landscape influences the vocation of art itself. We are thrilled to be joined by Professor Aaron Shkuda, author of The Lofts of Soho: Gentrification, Art, and Industry in New York, 1950–1980, and Bob Petrucci, an NYC-based attorney who has represented many of the artists who live in protected lofts.
The event is co-sponsored by the Real Estate and Urban Policy Forum (REUP) and the Law and Political Economy Association (LPE) at NYU Law.
