The Center for Racial and Economic Justice - CREJ at UC Law SFinvites you to join “Litigating Adultification Bias in Criminal Cases” featuring Professors Jessica Levin and Melissa Lee, Directors of the Center for Civil Rights and Critical Justice at Seattle University School of Law.
The conversation will be moderated by Professor Thalia González,CREJ Faculty Co-Director, and focus on the Center for Civil Rights and Critical Justice has leveraged literature on adultification bias to advocate for legal standards and processes that account for the effects of adultification bias when young people of color are subject to criminal prosecution. Professors Levin and Lee will also discuss the judicial decisions in various jurisdictions that have acknowledged the operation of adultification bias, the legal rules that emerged from those decisions, and possible paths for expanding this advocacy into other points in the criminal legal process.
