Law and Government Society is hosting a Professor Lunch Series aimed at giving students interested in policy or public interest an opportunity to connect with NYU Law professors whose careers have touched government. Our next lunch is with Rachel Barkow. Professor Barkow is the faculty director of the Zimroth Center on the Administration of Criminal Law at NYU and a former member of the United States Sentencing Commission (2013 - Jan 2019).

This lunch is a unique opportunity to engage in an informal, small-group discussion (10–12 students) focused on applying the lessons and theory of administrative and constitutional law to the administration of criminal justice. Now the Charles Seligson Professor of Law, Professor Barkow also previously served as a member of the Manhattan District Attorney's Office Conviction Integrity Policy Advisory Panel (2010-2020). In 2021, she co-chaired Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's transition committee on police accountability. Professor Barkow has been invited to present her work in various settings, including testifying numerous times before subcommittees in Congress on sentencing, overcriminalization, clemency, and agency capture.
