On April 7, the Environmental & Climate Justice Initiative is cohosting, together with partners, the convening, At the Intersection of Disability Justice and Environmental and Climate Justice: Next Steps in Considering Impacts on People with Disabilities in Environmental and Climate Decisionmaking. The event will be hybrid so you can join in person in NY or via zoom. (See registration info below.)
This one-day hybrid convening will bring together advocates, researchers, policymakers, and community leaders to examine how environmental and climate decision-making can better account for the experiences and rights of people with disabilities. Through cross-sector dialogue, participants will explore definitions of disability and disability history, the role of data and datasets in decision-making, emergency planning and response systems, and regulatory and rulemaking processes.
Grounded in disability justice and environmental and climate justice frameworks, the convening will identify key gaps, elevate promising practices, and chart next steps for advancing equitable, accessible (2nd part coming), and accountable approaches to environmental and climate governance across local, state, and federal contexts.
The convening will take place on April 7, from 9 to 5 eastern, and will be hybrid. In-person participation will take place in New York City at the NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, at 105 East 17th Street, 3rd floor, in the Faculty Seminar Room.
