How To Reckon With Our Unjust Past
- Thursday, October 27, 2022
- 12:00–1:00 p.m.
- This is a virtual event
In recent years, debates over topics such as reparations, Confederate monuments, the 1619 Project, and “critical race theory” have forced us all to examine painful truths about our country’s past. Yet this process of examination can sometimes make us feel a swirl of emotions—grief, shame, defensiveness—causing us to shut down and cling to a sanitized and inaccurate view of history.
Professor Dolly Chugh, award-winning psychologist and author of A More Just Future: Psychological Tools for Reckoning with Our Past and Driving Social Change, offers a research-backed guide to confronting the injustices in our national story. Join Professor Chugh in conversation with Professor Kenji Yoshino, Director of the Meltzer Center for Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging, to explore how all of us can face the past with resilience and grit, and build a better future.
Attendees of this event will be entered into a raffle to receive a free copy of Professor Chugh’s book.
