Family Miranda Rights Event
- Tuesday, September 30, 2025
- 1:15–2:15 p.m.
- This is a virtual event
In family court child neglect and abuse cases, accused parents are not informed of their rights at the onset of the investigation, unlike in criminal legal cases. Over the past few years, there have been a legislative advocacy campaign to require that child protective services agents inform parents of their rights; this campaign has not been successful, yet. At this event, we will cut out Know Your Family Miranda Rights cards. Then, you can sign up to help distribute these cards around Black and Latinx communities across NYC that are most heavily surveilled by ACS (the Administration of Children's Services, NYC's so-called "child protective services" agency).
Sponsored by the Latinx Law Students Association, Black Law Students Association, South Asian Law Students Association, and Family Law Student Association
