CLE: NYU Law Graduate Tax Program - Jerome Manning '52 Tax Salon

  • Friday, April 24, 2026
  • 5:30–6:30 p.m.

NYU Law Graduate Tax Program presents the Jerome Manning ’52 Tax Salon featuring Megan L. Brackney LLM ’09, Adjunct Professor, NYU School of Law, ABA Tax Section Committee Chair, Partner, Kostelanetz LLP; and Faculty Director, Graduate Tax Program, Professor Brant Hellwig LLM ’00. Megan Brackney will lead a discussion of “Tax and Ethics.” Ethics may not be the first thing we think of when we think about tax, but as tax lawyers, we are the gatekeepers of the US system of voluntary tax compliance. We will discuss the ethical dilemmas that all tax lawyers face in balancing their duties to advance their clients’ interests, while at the same time honoring their obligations to the tax system, duties of professional responsibility, personal integrity, and the need to earn a living. Using Circular 230 as a guide, we will examine some common difficult situations and the best approaches to handling them. Please join this conversation. The event will be held in-person only. A reception immediately follows.

This program has been approved to offer one New York State CLE credit in the Ethics and Professionalism category. The credit is appropriate for experienced and newly admitted attorneys. Reunion Weekend 2026 free academic sessions are open to all of the NYU Law community, non-reunioning alumni signup now to attend.
