NYU Law’s Moot Court Board’s flagship Art of Advocacy series examines advocacy through a personal lens and explores how leading practitioners deploy their individual strengths to become persuasive and effective advocates across forums.
This installment features Paul Clement on Supreme Court and appellate advocacy at the highest levels. The session will be moderated and will include an opportunity for Q&A.
Clement is widely regarded as one of the nation’s foremost appellate advocates. He has argued over 100 cases before the United States Supreme Court and served as the 43rd Solicitor General of the United States. He is a partner at Clement & Murphy, PLLC, and a Distinguished Lecturer in Law at Georgetown University Law Center. His prior public service includes serving as Acting Solicitor General and Principal Deputy Solicitor General, as well as clerkships for Justice Antonin Scalia of the U.S. Supreme Court and Judge Laurence H. Silberman of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
This event will highlight his depth of experience in constitutional litigation, federal courts, and high-stakes appellate advocacy, offering insight into how elite advocates prepare, structure arguments, respond to questioning, and maintain credibility before the Court.
