Alt-Breaks Philippines Trip Report Back

A group of NYU Law students travelled to the Philippines to meet and learn from the National Union of People's Lawyers. We met with both lawyers and their client-communities about their displacement from their homes, lack of access to resources, systemic violence, and other forms of governmental oppression. We directly visited and lived in communities of farmers, fisherfolk, indigenous people, and political prisoners. Not only did we learn how lawyers can aid in their struggles, but we also learned the importance of international solidarity and how our struggles are connected.
