Join NYU ACS for a timely discussion on the current state and future of immigration law, featuring former Immigration Judge Kyle Dandelet, who was dismissed by the Trump administration; Professor Margaret Satterthwaite, UN Special Rapporteur on the Independence of Judges and Lawyers; and Lauren Major, Adjunct Professor of Law at NYU School of Law and Managing Attorney at the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) in Newark, New Jersey.
Our panelists will cover (1) the recent mass firing of immigration judges (2) human rights violations committed by ICE, including but not limited to third country deportations, lack of due process, and excessive force, and (3) current immigration law cases before the Supreme Court and (4) potential reforms to ensure better institutional guardrails and humane treatment within our immigration system.
This event is especially relevant for students interested in civil and human rights, immigration work, administrative law, and rule of law work.
Snacks will be served.
