Restorative Justice and Federal Criminal Practice

The Peter L. Zimroth Center on the Administration of Criminal Law at NYU Law School hosts its 2023 annual conference, focusing on restorative justice and federal criminal practice on April 11, 2023, from 1:30-6:00 PM in the Greenberg Lounge of Vanderbilt Hall. We have a diverse group of panelists, including the Honorable Leo T. Sorokin, a federal district judge in the District of Massachusetts, Assistant U.S. Attorney James Hebert, former CJA President and defense attorney Jessica Hedges, and Clarissa Turner, J.C. Anderson, and Tavon Robinson, all of whom participated in restorative justice programming in the District of Massachusetts.

Topics will cover the following:

  • Restorative justice programming that has started in the District of Massachusetts;
  • Lessons learned from state and local restorative justice programs
  • How to think about enacting restorative justice programming in federal criminal courts, including a frank discussion of the challenges that might arise and the successes that these program participants and administrators have seen.


The event has been approved for 5 New York State CLE credits in the category of Areas of Professional Practice. The credit is both transitional and non-transitional; it is appropriate for both experienced and newly admitted attorneys. Please note that attendance to each panel is worth 1.5 CLE credits and attendance to the entire event is worth 5 CLE credits.
