Summer Internships FAQ

 

  • Who is eligible to apply for a Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital Program (EVC) summer internship?
    1L students currently enrolled at NYU Law are eligible to apply for a summer internship opportunity offered by EVC.
  • How much funding is awarded to Venture Fund summer interns?
    NYU Law students who are offered a summer internship will be awarded $15,000 in funding from EVC.
  • Can I apply to more than one summer internship?
    Yes, you may submit an application to as many available summer internship opportunities as you’d like. Please note that a separate application must be submitted for each company.
  • How are decisions made?
    Once an application is submitted for an EVC summer internship opportunity, it will be shared with the respective company for review. All interviews and hiring decisions will handled by each company.
  • When can I expect to hear about a decision?
    Timelines for decisions may vary, but companies are required to make internship offers no later than February. If you receive an offer, you will have one week to accept or decline.
  • What kind of time commitment is required for summer internships?
    While working hours will be set by the employer, interns should expect to spend the majority of the work week at their internship throughout the summer. Interns will also be required to schedule check-ins with the Director of the EVC and will submit a report at the conclusion of the summer. Venture Fund summer internships are typically 8-10 weeks long. 
  • Can I work a full-time job during the week in addition to the summer internship?
    No, you are not permitted to work another full-time job during the week if you accept a summer internship position.
  • What is the purpose of a EVC summer internship?
    The purpose of the EVC summer internship is to provide 1L students interested in pursuing a career in entrepreneurship with a unique opportunity to intern for a startup and engage in work beyond the legal field. 
  • How are companies selected for EVC summer internship opportunities?
    In order to partner with EVC to offer a summer internship opportunity, a company must have a founder or leadership team member who is an alumna/us of NYU Law. Companies interested must also first contact Emily Wazlak, Director of the NYU Law EVC Program, at emilywazlak@nyu.edu.
