Senior Duplicating Assistant, Duplicating Center

Terrance Henry

Tell us the story of how you came to work at NYU Law? Were you always in your current position?

In 1989, while employed at R and S Struss in Brooklyn, I received a call from Joel Muhammed, the current duplicating supervisor, who informed me about an opportunity as a duplicating assistant. Given our amicable connection, Joel highly recommended me for the position. Despite my limited knowledge of printer services, I was enthusiastic and committed to learning. Throughout my three decades at NYU Law, my professional journey has centered around the duplicating center. Over the course of these years, I progressed from a duplicating assistant to a senior duplicating assistant.

What’s a typical day for you like?

A typical day in my role involves checking emails for new printing, copying, or scanning requests. I diligently fulfill these requests, especially those with time-sensitive deadlines. Additionally, I oversee and maintain all copier machines at the Law School, handling tasks such as ordering supplies and arranging for repairs.

What’s the most challenging thing about what you do? And what’s the most rewarding?

The most challenging aspect of my job is managing last minute, urgent requests that demand meticulous attention to detail. On the other side, the most rewarding part is witnessing the students graduate. Interacting with these individuals, many of whom go on to become influential figures in our justice system, fills me with a deep sense of pride.

What do you wish you’d known about the Law School on your first day of working here?

I have had the unexpected privilege of meeting several notable personalities, including John Sexton, Ken Starr, Sonia Sotomayor, Kenneth P. Thompson ’92, Hakeem Jeffries ’97, and others. It is something I would not have believed if you had told me on my first day of working here.

What is your favorite spot on campus, and why?

My favorite spot on campus is the Law School's cafe, primarily because of my love for food. It is where I grab my daily coffee and breakfast, making it a cherished part of my morning routine.
