The Center for the Study of Central Banks and the Law Alumni Association jointly sponsor the 2009 Global Economic Policy Forum.  The forum brings together world government and economic leaders to discuss issues of economic policy and the capital markets. on Race in American Society (CLE)

This year’s Bell Lecture will be presented by Professor Emma Coleman Jordan, Professor of Law, Georgetown University Law Center. Her lecture is titled “Race and the New Economic Correction in the Subprime Crisis: A Paradox of Individualism and Community.” A reception will immediately follow the lecture. The Friedrich A. von Hayek Lecture is an annual lecture series sponsored by the New York University Journal of Law & Liberty which focuses on the analysis of law from a classical liberal perspective. This year’s speaker is Judge Stephen F. Williams, United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. There will be a reception following the lecture. The Inauguration of The Straus Institute for
the Advanced Study of Law & Justice

Inaugural Lecture 6:00-7:30 p.m.-Vanderbilt Hall, Greenberg Lounge (40 Washington Sq. South)

We are delighted to welcome Amartya Sen, Thomas W. Lamont University Professor and Professor of Economics and Philosophy, Harvard University, and 1998 Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences to deliver the inaugural lecture.  The lecture will take the format of a Fireside Chat between Professor Sen and Professor Weiler. From 4:00-6:00 p.m., there will be an open house at 22 Washington Square North, home of The Straus Institute. Guests are invited to tour the new building and view a large collection of art in the space, and join us as Mr. Daniel Straus affixes the Mezuzah to the front door. The fireside chat between Professor Amartya Sen and Professor Joseph Weiler will be from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in Vanderbilt Hall along with the book launch of Climate Finance, edited by NYU School of Law Faculty members and Straus Fellows, Professor Richard Stewart and Professor Benedict Kingsbury. A reception will immediately follow the lecture and book launch. When registering, please indicate which engagements you will be attending.

BLAPA Spring Dinner

The Annual BLAPA Dinner is a wonderful opportunity to join the Executive Board, alumni, faculty, administrators and students in celebrating the achievements of several outstanding BLAPA alumni who are being presented with the distinguished service award. The dinner also provides a forum in which to show support for the student recipient of the BLAPA Public Service Scholarship award. Please save the date! Registration to open later this year.

We look forward to welcoming the classes of 1955, 1960, 1965, 1970, 1975, 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000 and 2005 back to the Law School for our 2010 reunion! All returning alumni will be able to spend the morning at thought-provoking academic panels featuring esteemed faculty and distinguished alumni, enjoy the annual alumni awards luncheon that follows, and cap it all off with former classmates at an elegant and festive dinner dance.
