2009-10 Registration Calendar


Please note these important dates and deadlines for accomplishing registration-related tasks. Use ABRA, the University's web-based student information system, for registration.

Date Event
June 10 by 5:00 p.m. All previous arrears, including summer housing, must be cleared in order to participate in the registration bidding system (ABRA) for 2009-2010.
June 11 by 5:00 p.m.

Deadline to submit waivers (including waivers of prerequisites taken at other law schools) for Fall and Spring.  Bids for applicable courses will not be accepted without waiver or satisfied pre/co requisite.

NOTE: Courses which require the permission of the professor for enrollment are not to be included in the bidding cycles.  You should follow the information stated by the professor in their course description regarding enrollment.

June 19 at 3:00 p.m. ABRA available to register requests for Fall 2009/Spring 2010 Bidding Cycle #1
June 22-September 14 Request for Fall 2009 graduate level non-Law course (except for Stern courses) accepted.
June 22-September 14 Requests for Fall 2009 College of Arts and Science language course accepted.
July 13, 10:00 a.m. Last day to register requests for Fall 2009/Spring 2010 Bidding Cycle #1.
July 13, 11:00 a.m. Fall 2009/Spring 2010 registration Bidding Cycle #1 is run.
July 22 at 6:00 p.m. Results of Bidding Cycle #1 are available on ABRA.

Register bids for Fall 2009/Spring 2010 Bidding Cycle #2 via ABRA.
July 27 at 10:00 a.m.  Last day to register requests for Fall 2009/Spring 2010 Bidding Cycle #2.
July 27 at 11:00 a.m. Fall 2009/Spring 2010 registration Bidding Cycle #2 is run.
July 29 at 6:00 p.m. Results of Bidding Cycle #2 are available on ABRA. 
July 29 at 6:00 p.m. Register bids for Fall 2009/Spring 2010 Bidding Cycle #3 via ABRA.
August 2 at 11:59 p.m. Last day to register requests for Fall 2009/Spring 2010 Bidding Cycle #3.
August 3 at 8:00 a.m. Bidding Cycle #3 is run.
August 5 at 6:00 p.m. Results of Bidding Cycle #3 are available on ABRA.
August 5 at 6:00 p.m. - August 14 at 5:59 p.m. ABRA is closed to all students.
August 14 at 6:00 p.m. - August 16 at 11:59 p.m. Transfer students only:  ABRA available to register requests for Fall and Spring transfer student Bidding Cycle #1.
August 17 at 8:00 a.m. Transfer student Bidding Cycle #1 is run.
August 17 at 6:00 p.m. Results of transfer student Bidding Cycle #1 are available on ABRA.
August 17, 6:00 p.m. - August 19, 11:59 p.m. Transfer students only: ABRA available to register requests for Fall and Spring transfer student Bidding Cycle #2.
August 20 at 8:00 a.m. Transfer student Bidding Cycle #2 is run.
August 20 at 6:00 p.m. Results of transfer student Bidding Cycle #2 are available on ABRA.
August 20 at 6:00 p.m.- August 24 at 10:59 a.m. The system is not available for placing bids at this time.
August 24 at
11:00 a.m. - September 2, 11:59 p.m.
All students, including visiting students, may register via ABRA using the daily cycle for Fall and Spring.  The Daily Cycles are not live.  Each day the Daily Cycle runs from 11:00 a.m. - 11:59 p.m.  Daily Cycle results will be posted each day at 11:00 a.m.
September 1  Last day to submit work from prior semesters for students graduating in September 2009.
September 2 at 11:59 p.m. Last day to add/drop courses on ABRA for Fall 2009 and Spring 2010.
September 3-December 4 Credit/Fail option available for fall 2009 via Albert (J.D. students only).
September 10 Last day to add a Stern Fall 2009 day course
September 14 Last day to add a fall 2009 graduate level non-Law course (except for Stern courses).
September 14 Last day to submit requests for fall 2009 College of Arts and Science language course.
September 16 Last day to add online course (LL.M. only)
September 28 Last day to add Directed Research and Writing Credit for fall 2009.
September 29 Last day to add a Stern Fall 2009 evening course.
October 2 Deadline to apply for January 2010 graduation via Albert.
October 5 - January 29 Apply for May 2010 graduation.
October 30 Last day to have all payments posted or be dropped from all Spring 2010 classes.
November 2 at 10:00 a.m. – November 10 at 10:00 a.m. JD 1L student registration for Spring 2010 elective courses via ABRA begins.
November 2 at 10:00 a.m. – November 5 at 10:00 a.m. JD 1L Bidding Cycle #1: ABRA available to register requests for Spring 2010 electives. 
November 6 at 10 a.m.  Results of JD 1L Bidding Cycle #1 are now available on ABRA 
November 6 at 10:00 a.m. – November 10 at 10:00 a.m.  JD 1L Bidding Cycle #2: ABRA available to register requests for Spring 2010 electives. 
November 11 at 10 a.m. 

Results of JD 1L Bidding Cycle # 2 are now available on ABRA
 

November 16 - January 26, 2010 Requests for Spring 2010 non-law graduate level courses accepted (except for Stern courses).
November 16 - January 26, 2010 Requests for Spring 2010 College of Arts and Science language course accepted.
December 1 Requests for Spring 2009 law courses by non-law students accepted.
December 1 at 8:00 a.m. Spring 2010 add/drop re-opens for all eligible students, including JD1.
December 4

Last day to drop Fall 2009 courses.

Last day of Fall 2009 classes.

January 5, 2010 Last day to submit work from prior semesters for students graduating in January 2010.
January 17 (11:59pm) Last day to add/drop courses for spring 2010 via ABRA.

Credit/Fail option available for Spring 2010 via Albert (J.D. students only).
January 26 Last day to add a Spring 2010 graduate-level daytime non-Law course (except for Stern courses).
January 26 Last day to submit requests for Spring 2010 College of Arts and Science language course.
January 27 Last day to add a Stern spring 2010 day course.
January 29 Last day to apply for May 2010 graduation via Albert.
February TBA Last day to add a Spring 2010 online course (LL.M.s only).
February 8 Last day to add Directed Research and Writing Credit for Spring 2010.
February 12 Last day to add a Stern Spring 2010 evening course.
February TBA January Graduating students must satisfy all financial obligations to the law school in order to graduate and be certified to sit for the bar exam by this date.
March 15 (FOR FINAL SEMESTER STUDENTS WITH EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES AND ONLY WITH PRIOR PERMISSION OF THE VICE DEAN) Last day to add a Directed Research for students in their FINAL semester with prior permission of the Vice Dean. Date is not applicable to continuing students.
April 27

Last day to drop Spring 2010 courses.

Last day of Spring 2010 classes.

May 1 Last day to submit work from prior semesters for students graduating in May 2010.
May 12 Last day to submit work from current Spring 2010 semester.
June TBA May Graduating students must satisfy all financial obligations to the law school in order to graduate and be certified to sit for the bar exam by this date.
