Tutoring Program
The Office of Student Affairs offers a tutoring program for students who are struggling academically or who have missed a substantial amount of class time because of illness or other personal problems.
- Our free, confidential tutoring service is open to J.D. and Graduate students who have demonstrated need for tutoring (i.e., received a B- or worse in two or more classes.)
- These sessions are designed to assist students who are experiencing specific difficulties in a particular subject, but we can sometimes assist with general skills such as exam-taking or outlining.
- Tutors are fellow students who have demonstrated academic excellence in the area(s) they tutor, and whenever possible, students are assigned to tutors who had the same professor for the course being tutored.
- Tutoring takes place at mutually convenient times, usually 2-3 hours per week.
- Due to the limited number of available tutors, students may request tutoring for a maximum of two courses.
Please note: because we rely on student volunteers to act as tutors, we may not be able to assign a tutor in every case, but we will make every effort to do so. Requests for tutors in more advanced classes can be difficult to fulfill. If a tutor is not available, we encourage you to speak with your professor and his or her teaching assistant about your specific difficulties.
To apply for tutoring, please send the following information to law.studentaffairs@nyu.edu:

(3) Your Phone Number
(4) Your NYU NetID
(5) Your NYU N-number
(5) List up to two classes for which you want a tutor(s). For each
course include the name of your instructor and the course/section
number.
(6) A copy of your unofficial transcript

The deadline to request a tutor for the Fall 2012 semester is November 16, 2012.
