Cancellation Requests

To cancel a SLNYC assignment, applicants must log-in via the NYU Housing Portal.

For housing assignment notifications received on prior to March 15, 2018:

  • You must submit the Summer Cancellation Request Form for approval to the Department of Residence Services by 5:00 pm.(EST) March 15, 2018 to avoid a penalty.
  • If you cancel after 5:00 pm (EST) on March 15, 2018, you will forfeit the $1000 deposit.
  • If you do not check in within one week after your license period begins and have not given written notice of your late arrival to the Department of Residence Services, your housing reservation and license will be cancelled and you will forfeit the $1000 deposit.
  • The Department of Residence Services may terminate this license and hold you responsible for all cost, including collection agency and legal fees, incurred by NYU in collecting past due payments owed under this license.

For housing assignment notifications received after March 15, 2018:

  • You must submit the Summer Cancellation Request Form for approval to the Department of Residence Services by 2 business days from the initial date of the assignment notification to avoid a penatly. 
  • If you cancel after 2 business days from the initial date of the assignment notification, you will forfeit the $1000.00 deposit.
  • If you do not check in within one week after your license period begins and have not given written notice of your late arrival to the Department of Residence Services, your housing reservation and license will be cancelled and you will forfeit the $1000 deposit.
  •  The Department of Residence Services may terminate this license and hold you responsible for all cost, including collection agency and legal fees, incurred by NYU in collecting past due payments owed under this license.

After the dates noted above, licensees are charged for the full license period. Licensees are charged for the full, confirmed license period even if they arrive later or leave earlier than the weeks confirmed. Cancellation penalties will be assessed even if original housing charges have not been paid in full. Waitlisted applicants, those who do not have a housing assignment, may cancel their housing application and be refunded their initial payment by submitting a cancellation request.

 

Note: Claims of not receiving an assignment confirmation do not negate the license obligations agreed to when submitting the application. Cancellation penalties will be assessed even if original housing charges have not been paid in full.
