Cancellation Requests

To cancel a SLNYC assignment, applicants must log-in via the NYU Law Housing Portal.

To cancel a summer 2023 housing application or assignment, residents must must log into the NYU Law Housing Portal.

For assignment notifications received prior to April 1, 2023:

  • To be without penalty, notice of cancellation must be submitted via the NYU Law Housing Portal by April 1, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. (ET). If you cancel after April 1, 2023, you will be responsible for the duration of your assignment as outlined in your assignment letter.
  • Unless your request to cancel or change your dates of stay is received and approved by May 1, 2023, or by the date indicated in your initial assignment letter, the license binds you to all terms for the duration of your assignment as outlined in your assignment letter.
  • Cancellation confirmations will be issued; it is important that you keep this receipt as proof of your cancellation for future reference.

For assignment notifications received on or after April 1, 2023:

  • If you are notified of an assignment on or after April 1, you must cancel the assignment via the NYU Law Housing Portal within two (2) business days from the initial date of the assignment notification. If you cancel after two (2) business days from the initial date of the assignment notification, you will be responsible for the duration of your assignment as outlined in your assignment letter.
  • Unless your request to cancel or change your dates of stay is received and approved by May 1, 2023, or by the date indicated in your initial assignment letter, the license binds you to all terms for the duration of your assignment as outlined in your assignment letter. 
  • Cancellation confirmations will be issued; it is important that you keep this receipt as proof of your cancellation for future reference. 

The Department of Residence Services may terminate this license and hold you responsible for all cost, including collection agency and legal fees, incurred by NYU in collecting past due payments owed under this license.

After the dates noted above, licensees are charged for the full license period. Licensees are charged for the full, confirmed license period even if they arrive later or leave earlier than the weeks confirmed. Cancellation penalties will be assessed even if original housing charges have not been paid in full. Waitlisted applicants, those who do not have a housing assignment, may cancel their housing application and be refunded their initial payment by submitting a cancellation request.

 

Note: Claims of not receiving an assignment confirmation do not negate the license obligations agreed to when submitting the application. Cancellation penalties will be assessed even if original housing charges have not been paid in full.
