Experiential Learning Lab

The Lab studies strategies for integrating theoretical, technical and practical professional training and extracts guidance from the most successful models.

Work within the Lab is most directly influenced by Socratic, simulation and clinical methods developed in the legal academy. Those influences are described in The Origins of American Legal Education: From Apprenticeship to Lecture Hall to Experiential Learning Sites and The Lawyering Method.

Work within the Lab is also influenced by Dr. Rita Charon’s pioneering work in Narrative Medicine and by the use of Simulated Patient Protocols in Medicine.
