J.D./M.S.W.
Students who participate in this program will have exceptional preparation for practice in either field. As a social worker with legal skills, graduates will be prepared to advocate more effectively for clients within the complex legal system. As an attorney with clinical social work skills, graduates will be better prepared to discover and understand the special needs of people who are disadvantaged.
The Silver School of Social Work offers students a clinical social work internship component and courses on policy and practice. In the J.D./M.S.W. program, certain courses are accepted for credit by both schools.
Those interested in a dual degree with a Masters in Social Work must apply to and be accepted by both New York University School of Law and the Silver School of Social Work, either simultaneously or during the first year of study at the Law School.
