Off-Campus Services

NYU School of Law ITS makes it easy for you to stay connected while you are away from your desk.  Whether you are traveling for a conference or on vacation, all you need is an Internet connection to access your emails, documents, and any other NYU resources.

Outlook Web Access
You can use Outlook Web Access (OWA) from any Internet-connected computer to access your Law School Exchange mailbox items, including e-mail, calendar, and contacts.  If you have a smartphone that can access the web, please visit the Mobile Devices section for more information.

To Use OWA:
  1. Open Internet Explorer*
  2. Go to http://mercury.law.nyu.edu
  3. Log in with your Outlook username and password
  4. Log out when done
* Use of other web browsers will render the OWA Light user interface, which has limited functionality.

VPN

Some programs require a direct connection to NYU-NET. A VPN client is used to establish that connection from off-campus. Installing and configuring the Cisco VPN Client provides a secure connection to the NYU network.

Examples of programs which require VPN access for off-campus use (this is not a complete list):
SIS (PeopleSoft)

Remote Desktop

Users can connect to their office PCs remotely via Remote Desktop.  This allows the user to remotely control their office PC as if they were sitting right in front of it.  Remote Desktop can be used from both PC and Mac.

Please contact Helpdesk to request Remote Desktop access to your office computer.

Library and Research Resources

Many resources are available without subscription when accessed from on-campus.  However, when accessing off-campus the services redirects to a login page.  The NYU Bobst Library has created a simple guide to accessing resources off-campus using their EZProxy service.  The guide can be found at http://guides.nyu.edu/off-campus.
