Law Women Mentor Match Mixer

October 1, 2013

6:00 PM, Golding Lounge

  On Tuesday, October 1, Law Women held its annual mentor match mixer. This year's mentor match was an unprecedented success with nearly 200 students signing up to be involved as either mentors or mentees. Mentors and mentees were matched based on similar interests, hometowns, undergraduate schools and other facts. Almost 100 students attended the wine and cheese reception where mentors and mentees met and mingled.

 


American Constitution Society President Caroline Fredrickson on Women's Rights, ACS, and the Progressive Legal Movement

On September 23, ACS President Caroline Fredrickson came to the law school and spoke to a group of 30-40 students from American Constitution Society and Law Women. She discussed how to navigate the challenges faced by women in careers dedicated to advocacy and service and how she handled those challenges, encouraging women not to be afraid to “lean in” and to network as much as possible. She also spoke about what ACS’s more than 16,000 paying members and other supporters are doing to shape debate, build networks, and otherwise advance progressive law and policy, and answered questions from the audience.

 

1L Welcome Reception

6:00 PM, the Dove Parlour

On Tuesday, September 3rd, Law Women held its first event of the 2013-2014 school year, the annual 1L mixer. The mixer took place at Dove Parlour, the traditional location of our mixer. Over 100 students attended the event and enjoyed specialty cocktails provided by the bar. Board members and older members of Law Women were able to speak with first years about upcoming events for the year, and excitement was generated for the Law Women mentoring program.

 

EIW Diversity Reception

Law Women was proud to continue to co-sponsor this annual event which provides a casual setting for firm representatives to network with diverse law students from NYU School of Law. The event is highly popular and a great way for students to learn more about firms, gain valuable perspective about life as an attorney, and receive candid advice about the law firm interview process.
