Mercer Residence 2010-11 Rates and Options
Mercer Residence is located on the corner of West Third and Mercer Streets, a short three block walk to the Law School. This apartment complex includes several types of units. In addition, residents have access to ground floor and upper terraces, a game room, study rooms, lounges, computer rooms, laundry facilities and a TV room.
All apartments have wall-to-wall carpeting, are centrally air-conditioned, have kitchens (stove, oven, refrigerator) and are furnished with beds (type A, D, and E apartments are furnished with queen beds; all other apartments are furnished with extra-long twin beds), chests of drawers,desks, chairs, dining table and chairs, bookshelves, and lounge chairs. Bedrooms in Mercer Residence do not have overhead lighting. Lamps, linens, cookware, kitchen utensils, and wastebaskets are not provided.
New for 2010-11!
- The housing rates have not been increased for the 2010-11 academic year.
- Some of the rates for apartments in Mercer Residence have been reduced.
- All eligible students will also receive a one month rebate credited to their University account during the Spring 2011 semester.
Eligibility Requirements for Current Law Students/Housing Lottery and Room Draw Participants
- Students must participate in the 2010-11 Housing Lottery and Room Draw
- Students must be in residence for the entire 2010-11 academic year.
Eligibility Requirements for Entering Students
- Students must apply by the May 15, 2010 application deadline for priority in the assignment process (Applies to all students admitted prior to May 15, 2010.)
- Students admitted after May 15, 2010 must apply for housing within 30 days from the date of admittance.
- Students must be in residence for the entire 2010-11 academic year.
Note
- Rates include local telephone, NYU Cable TV, ResNet (high-speed wireless and data capability) and utility charges. Each bedroom has a telephone, ResNet and NYU Cable TV connection.
- Halogen lamps and pets are prohibited.
- There are a limited number of studio and one-bedroom apartments available.
- Applicants who will not be living with a spouse, significant other, or children may request only a private bedroom in a shared apartment suite or an apartment that is suitable for one person (see suitability notes in the description section).
- All measurements are approximate and square footage and layouts will vary.
- Monthly rates are approximate and are provided solely for comparison to off-campus market rents. Students are billed on a semester basis.
- Smoking is prohibited in School of Law housing (apartments, common areas, balconies, terraces, etc.).
- The academic year license period start date for all but JD1 students is Saturday, August 28, 2010. All JD1 students are scheduled to arrive on Wednesday, August 28, 2010 and will be charged the corresponding JD1 Orientation Housing Fee for their stay during

Effective Rates *
- The Effective Rates include the one month rebate in the calculations.
- Students will be billed the Semester Rate for the Fall and Spring semester.
The one month rebate will be applied to all eligible student accounts in April 2011.
