On-Campus Housing

New York University School of Law housing includes two high-rise apartment-style residence halls and two low-rise buildings. With a majority of our students and many of our faculty living in proximity to one-another we are able to foster and sustain the engaged community that is a defining characteristic of the school. Many of our staff members have been here for more than 15 years and thoroughly enjoy working with students. You will quickly find yourself on a first-name basis with many of us.

We offer students an opportunity to live in a community-centered residence in a variety of living arrangements. Most incoming law students who request housing can be accommodated in one of two high-rise buildings and two low-rise buildings. In contrast to most conventional dormitories, our housing is apartment style. Most students are housed in a private bedroom in a two or three bedroom apartment. Family housing and one-person accommodations (studios and one-bedroom apartments) are available but limited in quantity.

Complementing the private living spaces are meeting rooms, laundry rooms, computer labs, game rooms, lounges, and terraces designed to encourage discussion and informal socializing. The residential buildings also house the offices of the student journals, the Student Bar Association, and many other student organizations.

The Department of Residence Services is continually working to improve the residential experience of our students through renovations, ongoing projects, and a committment to "Green" initiatives .  The HousinGram is our monthly newsletter and it provides students with timely administrative information and announcements. The ProGram, a series of social and cultural events which take advantage of our unique urban location, is also offered to our residential students.

NYU School of Law also has a faculty member "in residence."   The Faculty in Residence program provides residents with an opportunity to participate in informal conversations on key issues with full-time faculty as well as visiting and Hauser Global Law faculty. The faculty in residence play a key role in establishing and sustaining within the residential facilities the engaged community that is a defining characteristic of the Law School.
