Overview of the LLM Career Curriculum

Incoming students receive information from the Office of Career Services regarding preparing a resume for review and other job search preparation tips.

An orientation session for LLM students takes place to ensure a smooth transition into the fall semester and the job search process. Students receive their CSM username and password to begin accessing job listings, job search resources, and the OCS events calendar. Resumes submitted in July are returned to students.

OCS hosts in-depth job search workshops targeted to Tax and Foreign-Trained LLMs. Students may begin setting up one-on-one career counseling appointments after attending a job search workshop. Non-Tax, US-Trained LLMs may schedule one-on-one appointments once classes begin.

The Fall On-Campus Interview Program for Tax/International Tax LLM students begins in September and runs through November.

Tax students participate in the NYU Day at the Tax Court in Washington, DC.  OCS also invites tax employers, including the Big Four Accounting Firms and the IRS, to campus to speak about career options for tax students.

OCS hosts a panel and reception for Foreign-Trained LLM employers, alumni and students. A panel of Foreign-Trained LLM partners and employers of foreign-trained students speak about the job market in NYC and globally. A reception designed to help students network follows the panel.

Foreign-Trained LLM students submit their resumes and selections for the January International Student Interview Program.

OCS will provide an interviewing skills workshop video.

OCS hosts career programs (in person and online) featuring LLM alumni discussing their career paths in specific areas of the law.

The Tax Practice Interview Evening takes place, allowing Tax/International Tax LLM students to conduct 20 minute practice interviews with LLM graduates practicing tax in the NY area.

OCS organizes a Practice Interview Program for foreign-trained students in preparation for the International Student Interview Program.

The International Student Interview Program, which provides law students from 32 schools with the opportunity to apply to 160 employers from around the world, takes place at the end of the month.

The Spring On-Campus Interview Program for Tax LLM students begins in January and runs through March.

The Taxation Interview Program (TIP) takes place in Washington, DC.

The post-graduation job search workshop is held.
