Marisa Demeo '93 confirmed as associate judge on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia

On April 20, the United States Senate confirmed the nomination of Marisa Demeo '93 as an associate judge on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Demeo, who was nominated to the position by President Barack Obama in March of 2009, will now serve a 15-year term.

From 2007 to 2010 Demeo was a magistrate judge in the Superior Court’s criminal division. A Root Tilden Kern Scholar at NYU Law, Demeo has long displayed a commitment to public interest, working for such organizations as the AIDS Service of Lower Manhattan, the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, and Texas Rural Legal Aid. Following further work at the Department of Justice and the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, Demeo was an assistant U.S. attorney for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.
