On February 4, President Barack Obama nominated David Fein '85 to become the new United States attorney for Connecticut. Fein, a partner at Wiggin & Dana in Stamford, CT, since 1997, previously served in the White House under President Bill Clinton as an associate counsel from 1995-1996. Before joining the White House, Fein worked as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York from 1989-1995.
Fein was among four potential nominees, and would replace Nora Dannehy, who has served as interim U.S. attorney since Kevin O’Connor moved to the U.S. Department of Justice. According to the Hartford Courant, Fein’s nomination is the first to come jointly recommended by the state’s Senators. "We applaud the President's decision to nominate David Fein as the next U.S. attorney for Connecticut," said Senators Christopher Dodd and Joseph Lieberman in a joint statement. "As U.S. attorney, he will play a critical role in upholding the law and ensuring justice for the people of our state."
